I recommend Soundcloud for hosting and embedding in a blog for streaming from the blog itself. They have a music player that has a download link on it, so you don't have to leave DancingAstronaut to listen to and download the song.

Yes Soundcloud is awesome but it's meant for uploading tracks you own. If they find out their hosting tracks for you for free and they're not yours, they'll take you down.

hey…what about if you have a player from mixpod? not sure what was the other one that you had…that's what I use for my website ( http://www.dirtyhousebeats.com ) and i host my files on ” datanest ” – its only like $ 3/ a month for 10GB of storage and 50GB of traffic…pretty sweet deal and the users cannot download the tracks…they can only listen to it… Good Luck!

while I understand the desire of people to download all of these tracks for free…you guys even post up the 320's of the biggest records/most popular tunes out there for the pure sake of getting more hits versus supporting the artists that make these tunes. What are you working on exactly…asking permission for uploads or figuring out workarounds so that you might not get caught?

Look up “Contributory copyright infringement”, all of the cases have ended badly. you wont get off the radar, you will just receive a notice from your hosting service saying your website and account have been terminated due to violations of terms of service

Make it password protected and try to host all the files on different servers under different names.

Why do you NEED to post the links anyway?
Just use a streaming plugin where you can't just press right mouse button to save (it really isn't difficult to find the songs anyway, one Google search and you got it.)

Zippyshare works well enough if you have to use it. The songs don't sound quite as good as in your kick ass player though. Is it possible to have the zippyshare links open on top of your site in an floating window so it doesn't have to open a new browser window or tab. That's the nicest part of the player.

So it looks like we're going to go with this. We will post an update later but we have been talking with the record labels and we're working out deals where we can stream without allowing download if we link to the proper music store
