Avicii teases new tracks at EDC, we’ve got the rips

Avicii SP 05

We’re still digesting the insane amounts of music that were played at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Electric Daisy Carnival, but we simply had to share these two tracks with you. Leave it to Avicii to take our breath away with fresh new material amid an extensive lineup of DJs — all of whom brought their a-game to dessert’s biggest dance-a-thon. Right now we don’t have anything more than “New ID” for the first track up (though we’re lovingly referring to it as “ID^2″). The build is phenomenal, and kind of reminds us of the older Avicii production, “Skype.” If you ask us, it’d be killer with a vocal track — and we know how Tim likes masterfully pairing those. The second track has a more electro feel to it, and is a possible re-work to The Temptations’ “Papa Was A Rolling Stone.” For now you can bookmark the SoundCloud rips below, but we promise to let you know more as soon as we do. For now though, what do you think?

Update: Commenters have pointed out that the first new track has an uncanny resemblance to Michael Woods’ “Drop Zone,” so we might very well be looking at an early cut of an Avicii remix to it. We’ve heard from other sources that it’s most likely getting a vocal track eventually as well.

Axwell, heart is king remix on first one, lol? It’s fucking brilliant!

As for the second, it’s wicked and unique. Nice that he’s constantly trying different styles. It’s not my type of track, but it’s a brilliant track still though. He’s a genious afterall.

He also has an upcomming track called “Don’t give up on us”. Fucking amazing track, my recent love.

    Dear God…

I normally dont hop on to the “fan trains” or “band wagons” of new or trending artists and stuff like that but ever since I heard Levels i fell in love with this guy’s music. He’s extremely talented and is definitely my favorite house producer. His music literally is magic for me. If i’m in a bad mood or sad or tired his tracks instantly pick me up and put me into some of the greatest (sober) moods I’ve been in.

All I can say is that these two tracks are right up there with the rest of them and that he never ceases to amaze me.
     Keep it up Avicii.

*and the second track isn’t necessarily a ‘new direction/new sound’ for him, it reminds me of a hybrid of sweet dreams (avicii sweder dreams remix) and tracks released under the tim berg name (like jailbait)

that second track is fucking huuuge, i LOVE the acid house sound especially coming from Avicii.  All hell broke loose when he dropped it at Fur in DC last weekend.  He basically played an extended version of his EDC set, it was incredible. Avicii is amazing!

Heart is King remix… brilliant call for everyone ^^ who noticed.

Have to say personally I’m surprised by the overwhelming support for the second track… especially by Avicii fans. EDC was my fifth time seeing him since march… and he fucking killed it. Personally I’d say he had the most grand, epic, and memorable set of EDC (considering I missed Swedish House…). I’ve never been a big Avicii fan, however how he has progressed as a producer in the last six months has been incredible.

I think that Heart is King (Avicii Remix) is by far his most mature piece so far. Seeing that live was… breathtaking to say the least. Tiesto and Afrojack are my favorite, bar none. However, watching how Avicii’s set’s have grown over the last eight weeks, I’d be surprised if he wasn’t in DJMag’s top 10 come January.

glad to hear any thoughts or rebuttles… only 8months til coachella
