Daft Punk – Derezzed (Avicii Vocal Mix) [Preview]

avicii

Dancing Astronaut truly believes that Avicii’s original remix of “Derezzed” was one of the more underrated releases of the year. Is it just us or did that fly a little bit under the radar after its release on Daft Punk’s Tron: R3c0nf1gur3d album? Avicii himself rarely played it in live sets, but judging by the number of facebook likes on the original post many of you loved it. Have no fear – Avicii now adds some sexy vocals (vocalist unknown as of now) which not only increases the life expectancy of the track, it is now a bomb to play in live sets. Look out for his upcoming releases of “Levels”, “Silhouettes”, and “Sunshine” in the near future.

Random Poll: Where do you think Avicii will land in this years DJ Mag Top 100? Sound off in comments.

Avicii just leaks or releases a sick track every now and then and unless you really have your ear to the ground sometimes you can miss it, but then he finds a way to keep the buzz up for such a long period of time by just releasing more polished versions, ex, adding (incredible) vocals, every now and again, not unlike levels(ID) and fade into darkness(pengiun).  I loved his Derezzed remix to begin with, it was on my study playlist last year, but hearing this with vocals reignites my love for the original.  Thanks avicii for being so brilliant, and thanks DA for being one of my main sources to stay up to date in the edm world.

He had a fantastic last 12 months and with more than a month left to produce a few more bangers before the voting is closed there’s no doubt that he’s going to move well up the list from his #39 spot from last year. I’d expect him to fall somewhere around the #7-10 spot this year.

i would say he definitely will be in the top 5. he’s had such a killer year. lets just hope he follows through with it till the end of the year.

oh, sometimes i get a good feeling he’ll be in the top 20 this year. he deserves it.

i don’t think he will be top 10 just because i feel like he hasn’t paid his dues. but if it were up to me i’d put him up there.

  • Edhallam

don’t know anyone who hasn’t put him in their top 5. i’m predicting 8th

  • Josel

i think he is an amazing producer, but everything we hear isn’t released yet, so its not really fair idk what takes him so long and also if this was a vote for top 100 dj skills and sets, he would be at the bottom of the 100 cos his dj skills really need to be worked on, but with time that will come

  • the-household.blogspot.com

Avicii is the epitome of brilliance. Even though some of his tracks tend to sound pretty similar to each other, nothing on my itunes library gets me going more than a few avicii jams. I hope he’s in the top 10 next year, if not, then that 100 best djs list is bs.

  • Grillex

Top 10 or 20 FOR SURE

  • Evan5452

Honestly, 10-20. yah hes amazing, but a majority of the voters are from Europe and a lot of them vote for the trance djs and other well known house artists. It sucks because a lot of really good artists have to as one user said “pay their dues” before they get in the top 10.

  • Edhallam

Having thought about this some more, take a look at avicii’s back catalogue. He has remixed all the big names and done an incredible job. I honestly paid zero attention to Armin Van Buuren – Drowning until Avicii’s incredible remix came out. Equally so with Tiesto – Escape Me, Bob Sinclair – New New New (which was literally shit until Avicii got his hands on it), Daft Punk – Derezzed, David Guetta – One Love. The lad is a genius…. Midas touch doesn’t even cover it. He was my number one without any hesitation and fully deserves a place in the top 5.

Even on Dancing Astronaut there isn’t another artist with as much coverage or hype as Avicii – perhaps with the exception of Swedish house mafia, but that’s debatable.

  • HHHard

The only problem is that Avicii as a DJ is not very skilled, as most of his sets are extremely similar. If the list was based upon top 100 Producers, it would be very difficult to argue against Avicii being in the top 5 for the year. Of course all of this is irrelevant to the actual outcome of the rankings.

  • Afroquack

Since most electronic dance music producers make most of their money these days off DJing, why not help support Avicii through supporting him in the top 100 DJ list?

  • WC

In some ways I agree that he has a comparatively limited track listing that he likes to work with but he’s basically only been going like this for a year or so. I watched him live in March earlier this year and between then and now he’s gradually gotten better in just a few months as I’ve been listening to more livesets he’s been doing. He’s been doing so much touring and perfecting the craft that in 2-3 years time this argument will be moot. Additionally, he tries to put out some new stuff regularly so that he can work with most of the stuff he’s produced alone. You also have to remember there aren’t alot of DJs/producers like him in regards to his style. Music is about emotion, which Avicii’s music touches on, so playing similar sets isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

mostly likely be in the top 15. Wouldnt be surprised if tiesto avb and david guetta get the top three spots again. Armin has an big devoted fan base that votes for him everytime. David guetta main stream will help him. Tiesto will mostly likely be top 3 or 5. I dont think Avicii gets the credit he deserves in europe. in 2 more years he should be well up in the polls thats for sure

  • K&G

Well, he’ll definitely be on a higher spot than last year, that’s for sure..

    Avicii for president!

  • DJ M4SLOW

I would gander in the top 5 at least. He seems to be really popular right now.

I heard the full version of this on BPM quite a few times already. It should be out there somewhere

When I vote for the top DJ 100, I try to stick to the title. Voting for the best DJ rather than the best producer. If that WERE the case for every voter, I wouldn’t even count him top 50, but because we all know that doesn’t happen, haha, I expect to see him around the top 25 or so. I’m also incredibly interested to see how the polls turn out this year. I feel like every EDM event I’ve been to this past year has had a lot larger turn out than ever before. Does this mean that there are a plethora of musically conscious EDM lovers out there in America to sway a vote? That’d be interesting!

I’m never really into the whole DJ top 100 list, but one thing it will show is which genre is starting to take over the top spot. I see trance getting knocked down a few slots!

I doubt he`ll be top 10, but top 20 for sure. I think the Swedish House Mafia will land on top 5 for sure, and each of them as individual artists will get to top 10. I predict Avicii landing somewhere between 10-15.
