Tommy Lee and DJ Aero signed to mau5trap, release new single “Static”

Back in 2005, Tommy Lee and Aero met a pre-mau5head era Joel Zimmerman through mutual friend and Nine Inch Nails producer, Steve Duda. The four recorded a short EP entitled “WTF?” that was widely overlooked. 5 years later, after the incredible commercial success of deadmau5, they are reunited on the Meowington Hax tour to support their new electro house endeavors. The new signees will be rolling with the mau5 starting with four shows at the Hollywood Palladium (three of which are sold out) in Los Angeles, as well as many more throughout the fall. They’ll also appear at Electric Zoo at Randall’s Island in New York City on September 3, and the Labor of Love Festival at The Guvernment in Toronto on September 4.

We were always skeptical about Tommy Lee’s foray into electronic music, something just didn’t feel right. Maybe it was our inherent jealousy of the Mötley Crüe drummer — did he really have to bump uglies with Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra and Heather Locklear? That’s just selfish. Much like when rappers try to become actors, we assumed it was a substance-less cash in, a desperate attempt at staying relevant. And boy were we wrong.

“Static” represents dirty electro house at its finest. It probably gives Tommy Lee’s past sexual experiences a run for their money — the kind of track that makes you feel like you need a shower.

After getting the dirt off don’t forget to grab your tickets for Electric Zoo here.
