Skrillex remixes theme song for EA’s ‘Syndicate,’ gives it away for free

Skrillex has been summoned once again to remix the theme song for the video game Syndicate. A few months back he produced the theme music for Mortal Kombat’s character Reptile, and he’s now given similar treatment to EA’s newest release. You can listen to the track below and grab it as a free download on Syndicate’s Facebook page. What do the readers of DA think about the recent video game/house combination? Would you like to hear house music set as the standard background music for all games?

First off, this is without a doubt one of Skrillex’s top productions thus far. I’m sure many are going to read this article somewhere and attempt to argue that actions like this (using songs for games, commercials, etc.) are going to destroy the scene (EDM music), but Skrillex has done very well at taking the initiative to represent projects that seem specific to the high energy vibe that most EDM fans enjoy (Mortal Kombat Reptile theme, this game which appears to be pretty action packed, and the GoPro extreme sports camera commercial). They definitely should stay away from using house music “for all games” obviously, but if there was an appropriate type of music to use in electronic games, I would have to think it would be electronic music. Well done Skrillex.

Good thing you aren’t a dubstep fan since Skrillex doesn’t make dubstep.

Game companies jumping on this is pretty hilarious. Not into it at all.
