Daft Punk and Nile Rodgers collaborating on new music: “It’s gonna be amazing”

2006 Coachella Music Festival - Day 1

It’s been too long since we’ve seen a proper Daft Punk album, the Tron Soundtrack was a tease at best and left us starved for more. Now, thanks to some comments from guitarist/song writer, Nile Rodgers, there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon for a new Daft Punk release. Nile was involved with some of the biggest names in music during the 70s and 80s (Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin, and Sister Sledge to name a few) so it is no shock that the disco-sampling house gods would be interested in working with a legend of the genre.

“They came over to my [house] today around breakfast time and it’s now evening. I basically had to almost kick them out. We were having so much fun just in an informal setting that we decided to make it formal. And it’s very formal. It’s gonna be amazing.”

“Every track they played I just ran across the room and got my guitar and started playing and we were all dancing around my dining room having the time of our lives,” he said. “It was something that was meant to be. It was interesting how Thomas said to me: ‘It’s funny Nile, it’s like we’ve completed the circle’.”

According to Nile, they are definitely making AN ALBUM together – if this comes to fruition, this could be some of the biggest news to hit EDM in recent memory.

This news is long overdue, but as any Daft Punk fan knows, we are used to rumors and the inevitable disappointment – let us know what you think.

I still listen to their first album, “Homework”.  Amazing music.  I am glad I saw them at Bang Music Festival in Miami in 2006
