After being banned from Los Angeles in 2011, the Electric Daisy Carnival relocated to the city of sin, Las Vegas. The move was wildly successful, breathing new life into the festival and prompting dance music fans from across the country to buy tickets almost a year in advance for its June 2012 return to the desert. Well, we’ve got some news to share about another big move for the event — and it’s going to make many DA readers happy if true.
We have been hearing rumors about a possible EDC NYC (or at least an EDC somewhere in the Northeast), but we dismissed them for a while as wishful thinking. However, things have reached a point where we feel like we wouldn’t be doing you, our dear readers, justice if we didn’t tell you about the news. According to people in the promotion scene, Electric Daisy Carnival will come to MetLife Stadium this May. (Citi Field may also be in the running, though we could not confirm.) Though these people have informed us that multiple dates have been considered, organizers have supposedly settled on the weekend of May 19-20th. If things pan out, Insomniac will transform MetLife Stadium’s field and surrounding parking lots into what is poised to be an even larger festival than Labor Day Weekend’s Electric Zoo. Of course, this is all a completely unsubstantiated rumor and things could change at any moment. Still, the dance music community on the East coast has been patiently waiting for this day to come — let’s hope no village councils get in the way.
Update: Loyal reader Ed sends us this photo of a flyer for an under-18 event set to go down at MetLife Stadium the weekend in question. It mentions Pacha NYC — a major partner in pretty much every EDM event in the tri-state area — so this could add fuel to the fire.
