Electric Forest goes bigger than ever for 2012, reserve your camping spot now

electric forest

In 2008, the Rothbury Music festival hosted jam bands and thousands of campers in the forests of Rothbury, Michigan. After a year hiatus in 2010, the festival returned as Electric Forest cosponsored by Insomniac Events. As the festival evolved, so did the music. 2011 saw EDM artists like Tiësto, Kaskade, Skrillex, Pretty Lights, and Bassnectar.

The festival takes place lakeside with art installations, lights and stages set right in the forest. This year’s EDM talent includes Bassnectar, Girl Talk, Steve Aoki, Wolfgang Gartner, Ghostland Observatory, Datsik, Major Lazer, Dada Life, Big Gigantic, Zeds Dead, Gramatik, Alvin Risk, AutoErotique, and The M Machine. At $242.50 tickets are not cheap – but how many festivals are four days and come with a parking spot. This years dates are right before Independence Day, June 28th to July first.  Although the number of festivals in the United States is ever increasing, Electric Forest remains different enough to warrant adding it to your summer travel plans.

Do you guys not know who Richie Hawtin is, or do you prefer to leave anything that isn’t mainstream bullshit out of your posts?

  2. Guest says:

    Big Gigantic is so mainstream!

  3. Dustandechoes91 says:

Lineup is way too much dubstep. Considering Tiesto and Kaskade were there last year, the lineup is kind of a letdown.

  4. Chris Buono says:

I thought the same thing. No mention of Hawtin is pretty ridiculous.

  5.  There is only a little over 30 artists there. There were 60+ last year so more will be announced. Insomniac knows what they’re doing I have faith in the future lineup additions.

  6. They didn’t mention Felix Cartel either.

  7. Miss JJar says:

I LOVE this lineup…Mainstream or not mainstream…they’re all fabulous artists. Can’t wait!
