We would go so far as to say that the Monday before Miami Music Week is better than Christmas. Normally our Mondays are spent drinking black coffee and nursing the residual hangovers from an irresponsible weekend, but today’s releases have done well to wash away our Monday morning misery.
“Fatility” (a combination of fatality and futility?) is Afrojack’s latest Dutch house banger, released just in time for Miami and the summer pool party season. It feels like 2010 again, where huge bleeps and Vegas pool parties defined our summer and melted our faces. While the Dutch style may be a bit tough to swallow in more intimate club settings, it feels right at home poolside or under huge festival tents. “Fatility” is Afrojack doing what Afrojack does best. The track starts out decidedly techno before it’s dark synth bass line leads into the pitchbended mayhem we’ve come to expect from the reigning king of Dutch house. Forget whatever LMFAO says, Afrojack is the original party rock.
