Coachella 2012 Weekend 1 set times are officially here!

We’ve meditated. We’ve speculated. We’ve anticipated. Now, after months of torture, we finally know the official set times for Weekend 1 of Coachella 2012.

As we expected, conflicts abound — even if you’re a die-hard EDM fan and couldn’t care less about the other talent on display. Swedish House Mafia or Amon Tobin or Datsik on Friday night? Would you rather close Saturday with Kaskade or Sub Focus? Would choose David Guetta over Flying Lotus? How about SBTRKT over Miike Snow? On Sunday, would Justice give you a better time than Nero? Will Avicii’s new live show be more memorable than Modeselektor or DJ Shadow? Gaslamp Killer or Dada Life?

Things are further complicated if you’re looking forward to some of the non-EDM acts at Coachella, including (but not limited to): The Black Keys, Explosions in the Sky, M83, The Rapture, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Bon Iver, Kasabian, The Shins, Buzzcocks, Kaiser Chiefs, Childish Gambino, Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg (and Eminem and Warren G and Wiz Khalifa), Florence + The Machine, Gotye, and araabMUZIK.

We’re still deciding where we’ll be, and we urge you all to take your time while you choose which artists to spend your precious time with.

Let us know what you’re conflicted about, and who you’re most excited to see in the comments. We’ll see you all in two days.

  1. I know this is an EDM blog, but if you’re watching Avicii instead of Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg, you’re an idiot.

  2. DARB says:

Radiohead or Kaskade (with new stage/show!) what to do???

  3. I know this is an EDM blog, but I agree. Especially because Eminem, Warren G, and Wiz Khalifa will also be in attendance.

  4. I would watch Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg, simply because of watching Avicii a month ago, and everyone knows about his generic sets. However, he said he’s bringing something new to this scene, so let’s wait and see. :D

if you pick anyone over radiohead/flying lotus on saturday night – LOL.

if you pick SHM over amon tobin on friday night – LOLx2.

the biggest conflict is definitely black keys vs m83 vs explosions in the sky. that sucks. also, miike snow vs SBTRKT.

  6. VE says:

all jokes aside – to all EDM fans going, and especially to DA:

can you guys cover the non-typical DJs? you’ll have plenty of time to cover avicii/kaskade’s new stages when they do a nationwide tour. and we don’t care about SHM’s set because it’ll be the same as miami.

google amon tobin’s show and you’ll easily see that it’s worth covering. modeselektor/SBTRK are going to tear the walls (or tent lol) down. flying lotus doesn’t even need an introduction, but there’s a chance thom yorke (lead singer of radiohead) appears during his set to perform a song they did together.

coachella has always been about introducing new music (as well as celebrating music we already know, of course), so i hope DA does a great job of doing so for their fans.

If you’re going to Coachella AND EDC, I’d definitely recommend skipping a lot of the EDM acts to see others, most of them will be at EDC anyways with a better vibe, bigger stage, and better set up.

I’m trying to catch those who aren’t at EDC this year (zedd, madeon, and yes even SHM, never seen them live and excited)

Otherwise I’ll be stoked about At The Drive In, Dre and Snoop, Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, etc
