Skrillex and Damian Marley are two names we never thought we’d see next to each other on a track but are so happy we did. The dubstep king isn’t one to shy away from off the beaten path collaborations and similar to “Breakin’ a Sweat” — his production with the surviving members of The Doors — “Make It Bun Dem” is a tremendous and unforgettable effort.
Albin Meyer’s recently released, “Bumbaclot,” had us hoping for a Jamacian-EDM fusion but the reggae influences ended with the title. We were a little disappointed to say the least but here come Skrillex and Marley to the rescue. Dubstep beats and reggae rhymes — especially when created by two modern-day masters of their respective crafts — are an absolutely terrific combination. “Make It Bun Dem” is now available on Beatport from Big Boy/ Owlsa Records.
