Superior Summer NYC: the best EDM events this June

Hot on the heels of the East coast’s first Electric Daisy Carnival, New Yorkers are already whispering about events like Identity Festival and Electric Zoo. However, DA would like to make it clear that there is still tons of partying to be had this summer and the list of events will congest the calendars of even the most dedicated ravers. Starting things off right, June will be a huge month for partying in the New York area – DJs from various genres will be playing at a wide range of venues that should be able to satisfy every kind of EDM fan. Making the right selections and understanding how to spend your valuable time (not to mention your hard-earned cash) is the key to having the superior summer.

When you want festival atmosphere: Benny Benassi & Friends at Governors Island

Water Taxi Beach is reopening its ferries for the season with Benny Benassi and Friends. The waterfront venue that hosted Avicii, Laidback Luke, Thomas Gold, and Steve Angello last summer is ready for another big rave season. The open air, surrounding East River, and artificial beach with light up palm trees give you every reason to call Governor’s Island a festival paradise. Sure it’s a little annoying to have to ferry there, but not only will Mr. Benassi be headlining the evening, DallasK, Bingo Players, and Hardwell will keep the party going all afternoon long.

Date: June 9th | Tickets

When you want to pull an all-nighter: Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano at Pacha

When you walk into Pacha at 1am, you know it is going to be a long night – as you walk through the door you make a commitment to yourself, your body, and your psyche, that you will spend the next 9 hours dancing in the pit. We all love these nights, and have probably stayed up through the morning hours with the likes of Boris, Danny Tenaglia, or Erick Morillo. However, in June, it would be best to dedicate your Pacha all-nighter to Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano, who have been rocking the club late nights and early mornings ever since closing for Dirty South back in November. The duo has an underground reputation with popular charisma – the winning combination that will keep you awake and restless as the sun comes up.

Date: June 22nd | Tickets

When you want bottle service: Tiesto at Lavo

Lavo has thrown extragavagant parties for Tiesto in the past, including his most recent star-studded birthday bash. Now that Tiesto is an official resident of New York City, you can be assured that he will be spending a lot of time behind the decks of his favorite hot spot. If you’re looking for a summer night to dress up, spend money, and order bottle service after a delicious meal, then look no further than Lavo – where Tiesto will be spinning on June 6th.

Date: June 6th | No tickets, only class will get you in here.

When you want to try something new: Loco Dice at Dekalb Market

Pacha introduced us to Dekalb Market last month when Steve Lawler invaded Brooklyn. The venue is a complete change of scenery and something many people haven’t experienced yet as a party atmosphere. Imagine raging in an open industrial lot surrounded by hollowed out cargo containers that have been replaced with food vendors. Throw in some tech-house and the always-rowdy Brooklyn crowd and you’ve got yourself Dekalb Market. If you missed Steve Lawler last month, you do not want to miss Loco Dice with Joris Voorn and Nic Fanciulli this time around.

Date: June 8th | Tickets

DA’s pick: Knife Party at Beekman Beach Club

Pacha recently announced The Brooklyn Terminal Project, described as ‘the world’s biggest DJs all summer long on the NYC waterfront’ and set to open with Knife Party on June 3rd. Unfortunately, the still unknown venue isn’t ready to handle one of these parties, so the location has been moved to Beekman Beach Club, where Knife Party will turn South Street Seaport into Rage Valley. The waterfront property offers a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge and enjoyable amenities that will hold us off until the big reveal. Catch Knife Party while they’re in town at this trendy venue.

Date: June 3rd | Tickets

Our inner party animal recommends attending every event that reaches the Big Apple in June, but that isn’t too realistic – is it? Spend time at different locations and different atmospheres to enjoy a variety of sounds with some of the funnest crowds. If you can handle more than we suggest, why not get jacked with Afrojack, R3hab, and Quintino at Pacha? Go ahead and pull out your favorite superhero costume for Laidback Luke and Tommy Trash or join the trance family for Dash Berlin and Tritonal all at Governors Island. This summer is all about being spontaneous and expanding your EDM horizon, so Dancing Astronaut will be with you every step of the way.
