Yesterday, Goldenvoice — the event organizers most well-known for Coachella — hinted on its social media channels that
it would be making an announcement this evening at 6PM Pacific time. As with anything related to the festival circuit, there was much hype and speculation surrounding the pending announcement — with many assuming it would reveal a (possibly new) permanent home for popular festival.
The LA Times, however, is reporting otherwise.
Update: See below.
“Those familiar with Goldenvoice’s plans but not willing to go on record tell Pop & Hiss that the promoter has been quietly organizing a music-themed cruise that would sail out of Florida and further expand the Coachella brand,” they write. They continue to speculate that it could launch as early as December, but that — shocker — pricing, dates, and artist information are still unknown.
We’re poking around with some of our own sources to verify the information, but we won’t have to wait long. The official announcement is slated for 6PM PT.
