The Chemical Brothers – an English electronic music duo with a storied legacy – have composed an official song for the track cycling events at the 2012 London Olympic games. The title, “Theme for Velodrome,” comes from the “incredible beauty” of the new Velodrome in the Olympic park in east London. Tom Rowlands, one of the group’s members who has a passion for cycling, wanted the song to depict “the sense of speed, pace and drama.” The track, which received its first play on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show on Monday night, will act as a soundtrack during the six days of cycling events.
