A-Trak gets extra funky with August 2012 mix of Fool’s Gold Radio

A-Trak returns to the inventive and imaginative pastures of his monthly Fool’s Gold Radio show with a fusion of techno, electro, and oddly enough, some deep house towards the end. This time around he packs 24 tracks into a one-hour slot featuring a new collaboration between himself and Clockwork, Boys Noize’s newest single off his upcoming album, and dips into his bag of old-school goods with “Atomic Food” by David Guetta. The deep house tracks you hear at the end aren’t something you’d normally hear in one of his sets, but it’s an easy way to get to know him as an artist and see what he listens to in his free time. Jump past the break for the full tracklist.

funk is cool again! YESSSSS
best mix you guys have ever posted. Very rich
You guys have an amazing blog except for whichever one of you loves A-Trak. Honestly one of the most boring producers in the game. I know you always talk about how he one the DJ competition at such a young age and how much you like his Hip-Hop influence…..its dance music not hip-hop that’s the point. His mixes are stagnant and seem to have the exact same makeup every time. This site, while amazing, doesn’t give any love to trance which is easily the most diverse and interesting, and might I add….its the original style. A-Trak’s annoying noises are well….annoying. However, I guess my hatred of A-Trak and subsequent love for ma completely different style of music is what makes dance music great. Sorry for the rant, but I really do hate A-Trak and as loyal reader (I check the site at least 20 times a-day….yes I love my job, haha) I just figured I should state my displeasure for him and these postings. Much love DA, keep up the great work and looking forward to seeing you at Zoo…..in the Group Therapy tent.
That’s why dance music is great, there are so many tastes and genres represented that debate is bound to happen – much of our love for A-Trak comes from experiencing him live – it’s a truly unique experience, not many DJs actually perform nowadays and he does it FLAWLESSLY. The same goes for trance – I never got a sense of ASOT from the radio shows until I experienced it live this past year. The environment and fans are just as important as the music. I’ll stop by Group Therapy if you come check out the Fool’s Gold tent on Friday.
I have seen A-Trak before though on the biggest stage possible…Ultra mainstage, he just didn’t do it for me. I would definitely be down to give him another chance but leaving Corsten and Above & Beyond is just not possible for me (I voted for both in the DJ Mag top 100 and have been a loyal listener to both their radio shows/podcats for year). However, if you have never been been to an Above & Beyond set I highly adcise trying to go one of the 2 days they are playing. I know one of your writers feels the same way I do about their ability to move a listener emotionally…it is truely a unique experience. I hope I run into you guys at the Zoo, it would be nice to finally put some faces to the many articles I have read (I believe I ran into you guys last year but at the time I was not a loyal reader of the site I just think I remember the shirts, ha). Lastly, it’s Friday……can you please hook me up with some good music to get me through this final day of the work week? Thanks in advance!
Seriously I would listen to these mixes just to hear A-Trak say random things in the mic like he does. It’s hilarious
