The latest news outlet to profile Dutch mega DJ Tiesto is CNN, who posted a four minute video with the man for its “Talk Asia” program yesterday. CNN calls out his Delerium remix as the tipping point in his career, and highlights his recent collaborations with more well-known names like Gotye and Kanye West. Tiesto calls his music “happy,” and credits Belgium as the original birthplace of what has evolved to “EDM.”
He says that he first realized the viability of DJing as a career around 15 years ago, and says that “I’m a real DJ — I can read a crowd really well.” He went on to add that “most of the other DJs are more like producers — they get famous because they make hits, but I’m more from the other way around.” The festival footage incorporated into the video isn’t particularly epic, but it’s nice to see Tijs in a different setting from a main stage or club.
