Rising French techno star Mike Levy — better known under his DJ alias as Gesaffelstein — has had a busy year pumping out hit after hit. Fresh off his remix to Zombie Zombie’s “Rocket Number 9” and his latest “Belgium” and “Depravity” releases, Levy returns to the remix front on VCMG’s “Aftermaths.” This skull-rattling track features oppressively constant drum patterns that switches from subtle punches of bass to repeated jarring chord play. Gesaffelstein — in stripping this remix down to such a minimal form — does such an impressive job layering this track that it keeps your senses at full awareness from start to finish.
