Smog Records releases their first label compilation Smog City

Smog Records has gathered a bass heavy crew to create their first label compilation entitled Smog City, out today. The LP consists of original productions from almost all the Smog Records producers and highlights the hard-style vibes of the West Coast. Lead by 12th Planet, Smog Records has become one of the leading dubstep labels in North America and Smog City is said to represent the label’s history with the sub-focused genre.

“Bass Salt,” the lead single off the Smog City compilation was released as a free download via Rollingstone.com earlier this month. The track is a collaboration from North American dubstep entrepreneurs 12th Planet and Antiserum. “Bass Salt”  starts off on the softer side of dubstep before the two producers add their signature wobbles to form a melodic opener.

The entire output moves through the history of dubstep fluently—beginning with the older dark sounds before moving into the American-made wobbling basslines. With help from the likes of Flinch, Noah D, SPL, and Bare to name a few, this 9-piece construction will impress old school and new school dubstep fans alike.
