As the hip hop/electronic crossover continues, the scene has seen an increasingly steady rise of Top-40 radio-friendly remixes of popular hip hop personalities. ENUR, Nicki Minaj and Goonrock’s collaboration “I’m That Chick” gets a dub-heavy remix from Rune RK that replaces the original’s poppy beat signature with cascades of white noise and an impossibly punchy breakdown. Progressive chord play works surprisingly well alongside Nicki’s equally punchy flow while electro builds and breaks transform the track from unlistenable pop drivel to something strangely satisfying.
