Black Butter Records is back with part three of their “Spread Love” series, offering up East London’s Codec’s recently released EP Be Yourself for free on the duo’s Soundcloud page. The pair define themselves as “bass house” and we really wouldn’t describe it any differently. The three-track release is made up of “Your Always,” “What You Need,” and “Be Yourself.”

“Your Always” starts with a sexy bass line and drives a steady thoroughly steady rhythm amidst a sprinkling of fun percussion and Rhodes synth tricks. “What You Need” takes a page out of Dirtybird‘s book to deliver a funky reverberating bass line while playful top line melodies punctuate the groove. The EP’s title track gets into a soulful UK garage flavor without dismissing some badass techy percussion. Stream the full songs and download for free after the break.
