Daft Punk at Coachella 2013? The rumors continue
It’s that time of the year again! No, not the holiday season. It’s Daft Punk rumor time! Every year, as Coachella‘s lineup announcement begins to loom, rumors of Daft Punk’s triumphant return to Indio, California start circulating around the internet. Lo and behold, another rumor has sprung up – this time via the concert announcement platform Songkick. On December 15th, anyone subscribed to Daft Punk‘s updates received the email attached below the break.
Almost immediately after the email was received, Songkick removed the announcement and the event from their website. Although this may seem like proof positive that Daft Punk is playing Coachella, it is important to acknowledge Songkick uses crowdsourcing to fill its concert database, allowing anyone with an account to create events and the details therein — making this screenshot highly suspect. Although Phoenix and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have new albums coming out in 2013, and Daft Punk’s highly-anticipated full length release is rumored to be just around the corner, this e-mail blast is most likely just another Daft Punk/Coachella hoax, similar to those of the past few years.
