French house veteran Dan Ghenacia is out with Trax On Da Road, the third release off his young label Apollonia — started together with friends Shonky and Dyed Soundorom. The three track release is nothing if not an extraordinary take on true house and disco themes.
“Manhattan 85,” the first track and A side of the release, holds its ground with a stable synth line amidst shimmering melodies and a bit of a chaotic feel. Moving over to the B side, Ghenacia strikes with “Acid Walk,” a percussive eight-minute track with interspersed gospel vocal samples and a funky bass line. We heard this one previewed in Apollonia’s recap of their Balearic summer adventures. Last but not least, we have “Da Doo Da” –a track that could most aptly be categorized as a fusion between classic house structure and a samba beat. Check out the full stream of the EP after the break, thanks to our friends at Mixmag.
