Maceo Plex – Space Junk EP
Maceo Plex gave us a first listen to “Stimulation” on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection about a month back, but this week we’re seeing the full release of the two track Space Junk EP on his own Ellum Audio. We’re about to rave about this EP — no one is surprised.
Maceo opens with “Filthy Mama” and continues along a highly licentious theme we see in most of his productions. His synths are so deeply compressed it’s hard to even tell what is going on (in a good way) and we are just loving the erratic spiraling reverbs, strong bass line, and Maceo’s own vocals. “Stimulation” is an all-out musical journey that effectively pairs bizarre high-pitched tones with capricious claps and a dizzying melody that builds and breaks over and over again. His productions, as ever, are totally original — making us both scratch our heads and move our feet. Stream the full tracks below.
