It’s only been three years since David Guetta found Will.I.Am and made his way into American mainstream music, and roughly a year since Pitbull and Flo Rida started to swindle dance tracks for themselves, but the apparent ‘pop crossover’ dates back even earlier. Back in 2007, Justin Timberlake released the critically acclaimed Future Sex/LoveSounds, an album entirely produced by the hottest pop producer of its time, Timbaland. One of the lead tracks, “LoveStoned,” was released separately, as an EP packaged with remixes from Tiesto, Kaskade, and Justice.
While they hadn’t yet began their take over of commercial music, these top-tier dance music producers had found the outlet early. Tiesto’s progressive trace adaptation contains the same captivating euro sound from Elements of Life, which was released the very same year. Kaskade’s rendition offers a sense of old school house, dance music before electro took over — deep, ambient, and sexy.
