Casting powerhouse divulges more on EDM reality TV show

Yesterday we brought readers news of the first DJ competition to hit reality TV via Doron Orfir Casting. Today Orfir himself, the director of casting behind shows like Jersey Shore, Millionaire Matchmaker and A Shot of Love with Tila Tequila, coughs up more information on the yet-to-be named producer/DJ competition.

Orfir states in his interview with Spin.com that he has a soft spot for the project because he considers himself to be a former “club kid.” Before becoming head of one of the most successful casting companies in the United States, Orfir manned the velvet ropes as a nightclub doorman. His years of experience in the “scene” helped him foster the knowledge necessary in singling out the wannabees from the somebodies, helping him cast the likes of Snookie, JWOWW and the Situation.

In his interview, Orfir makes it clear, his hand is only in the casting of the show, and the producers of the newest spectacle in dance music are yet to be announced.

He was willing to say when asked about the producers of the show,

It’s under wraps until the third week of January. They want to announce it and legitimize all the people who are involved, and it’s a lot. I’d like to say that it’s the titans of the industry.

The casting juggernaut goes on to attempt to legitimize himself as a knowledgeable dance music aficionado, making references to the original Coachella, knowing Etta James before she was sampled in Avicii’s “Levels,” and the audible feeling of soul and love created by dance music. Though the interview does not give us all the crucial details we wanted, we can expect more specifics to come throughout the month January.
