Ultra Music and Sony Music join forces, Patrick Moxey named President of Sony’s Electronic Music

Following a string of partnerships and acquisitions of dance music entities that includes the deal that will bring Tomorrowland to North America, news has broke that Ultra Music has formed an alliance with Sony Music Worldwide. The relationship has President of Ultra Music Patrick Moxey serving as Sony Music Worldwide’s President of Electronic Music. The strategic deal serves to cover A&R, distribution, international repertoire, and more — but jump below the break to find out what this all really means.

In short, the agreement has shaken up methods of music sales. Sony will now release Ultra’s music in North America while, internationally, both entities will share resources for the growth and benefit of Ultra globally. Patrick Moxey will now be working directly with Sony Music Entertainment CEO Doug Morris, and both head honchos had encouraging words of their partnership.
