Kahwe’s ‘Driving Me Wild’ EP makes its mark on Anjunadeep

Anjunabeats‘ offshoot label Anjunadeep, home to reputable names like Dusky, Jody Wisternoff, Jaytech, and James Grant, has been holding a solid stake in the deep house game since 2005. With its most recent release of Kahwe’s (formerly Medla) Driving Me Wild EP, it would seem Anjuna is now also throwing its hat in the UK garage ring — and no one is upset about it. Kahwe – Anything

Like much of the production coming from those UK young guns, “Anything” is rife with 90s vibes: hand claps, hi-hats, stuttered vocal samples, fun electronic percussion, and of course a downreaching two-count break.

Kahwe – Driving Me Wild

“Driving Me Wild” leans heavily on a melodic (and almost progressive) synth riff, but still manages to take it about as low as a Bashmore bassline. It’s spacey, soulful, and absolutely contagious to lovers of many genres. Hands down my favorite of the three tracks.

Kahwe – Yew

“Yew” is minimal and loungey, a five minute composition that builds and breaks through blissed out ambience. It’s the most downtempo of the three tracks, but powerful nonetheless — perfect for an early morning or late evening.
