It’s been two years since we’ve heard anything from Travis Stewart (of Machinedrum with Jimmy Edgar) and Praveen Sharma, but the two are back now as Sepalcure with a new EP on their home label Hotflush. In a world blurred by an overwhelming number of deep house and garage productions these days, it’s always refreshing to listen to something that feels a little different. The lead track off the EP, “Make You,” is just that. Stewart and Sharma build the track around a Whitney Houston sample, and with the help of a grueling sub-bass, a peppering of wood blocks, and time-honored guitar melody they manage to construct an absolutely elegant piece of dance music.
