Battle of the Beats: Disclosure vs Oliver – Control

Battle of the Beats is a feature from Dancing Astronaut that pits two tracks that share the same title against one another to determine which production represents the name better. With the dance music community continually growing, producers, mashup artists and DJs alike constantly create new music, often of the same name.  Now we are opening it up to our readers to weigh in on whose rendition takes the proverbial cake.

Disclosure – Control

With Disclosure’s debut album just hours away from being released, their 2012 version of “Control” brings out the elements that made the young UK dup catch our ear in the first place. A bouncing, glittering slice of inventive electronica with Ria Ritchies’ vocals sprinkled on top, the track pops with an indie sweetness backed by fine-tuned production.

Oliver – Control

Coming off of January’s Mechanical EP, LA’s Oliver took “Control” with a nu-disco lean. An irresistible synth melody plucks along under sampled vocals before a reverb-heavy break introduces a clap section that compels the listener to partake. Though technically mechanical, the track’s unshakable charisma leaves its feel more organic.

So who took control of your ear this week, dance darlings Disclosure or offbeat originals Oliver?
