This afternoon at EDMBiz in Las Vegas, Insomniac’s Pasquale Rotella and Allen Shapiro from Dick Clark Productions came together for a “special announcement” in between panels. The announcement, as the audience soon learned, is a new partnership between the two production companies for a new Dance Music Awards Show in 2014. When speaking on his reasoning for this partnership, Rotella explained that this kind of thing has been a dream of his for many years, and working with a historic company like Dick Clark Productions (who also work on the Golden Globes and the American Music Awards), was an easy sell. Shapiro, in many ways, echoed these sentiments, and gave pause to dance as part of the great evolution of modern music and the international stake electronic dance music now holds. No details were revealed for the short announcement, but more information will surely be shared in coming months.
