Already on a high for 2013 and last found representing the new-age of Dutch house trailblazers alongside TV Noise for “Just Some Loops,” Martin Garrix returns to Spinnin Records for his first solo stint since 2012’s “Keygen.” For an artist already racking collaborative duties alongside Sidney Samson and Dillon Francis alike, “Animals” was destined to be an interesting addition to the young producer’s arsenal. On his own two feet, the festival-proof sound that has elevated his status to unprecedented heights is left intact, using melodic builds and minimalistic drops to show both sides of his peak time persona at their very best. There may not be any shortage of young and hopeful talents doing the rounds, but “Animals” is enough to clarify that Martin Garrix is more than capable of standing on his own for the foreseeable future.
