Danish super-producer Rune RK (also known by his melodic techno alias Kölsch) has returned to the friendly fold of Spinnin’ Records, which today previewed his forthcoming single “Burning Boombox.” It’s always fascinating to hear what strengths a producer can apply across genres, and it’s no surprise that Rune’s latest offering contains the emotive vocals and ear for melodies that have made his past outputs under all his aliases so memorable. Well-crafted builds and breaks bookend a soaring lead synth-driven drop that feels like a bit of a welcome throwback amid the current percussive drop climate. Far from sounding outdated, Rune’s careful attention to production detail has rendered a track that is refreshingly detailed in construction while being straightforward in approach.
