Frenchman Fred Falke has been at the forefront of the French house movement since his first release alongside Alan Braxe thirteen years ago. Since then the multi-talented producer has worked with and remixed for U2, Ellie Goulding, Lykke Li, La Roux and more. Dedicated to creating entrancing soundscapes in place of punchy drops, Falke’s Axis installment is a disco-laced stroll through rolling progressions and funky bass lines. Opening with his filter cut collaboration with Tangerine Dream “Dancin,” Falke makes his intent known early on and continues to keep things light and groove friendly throughout the hour long mix. Falke showcases his rework of Daft Punk’s “Give Life Back to Music” alongside his own “Aurora” before touching on cuts from Pete Heller, DJ Sneak, Tori Amos and even Kanye West. Of course his stand out collaboration with The Knocks “Geronimo” makes an appearance here, adding just the right amount of bounce to initiate the laid back mix’s grand finale – a one-two punch from Squarepusher’s “Tommib” and his own touched up rendition of Theophilus London’s “Love is Real.”
