Finland’s Something Good strike back with five-strong Stars EP

Having made their name with sparing yet quality club cuts to date, Finnish house duo Something Good are back on the beat for Nocturnal Groove this month with a stacked five-track instalment. As no strangers to The Shapeshifter’s often-understated imprint, the Stars EP provides the most comprehensive snapshot of their scattered house stylings to date. From the dreamy undertones of vocal title track through to nostalgic closing number “Tales From The Sun,” the duo scales many a facet of modern dance music. “California Wonderland” is the crux of underground aptitude for the modern market, leaving “Brand New Day” alongside CAPS to drive deeper into the outspoken euphoria of progressive house. With “Just The Way” making a welcome return to the key driven melodies and well-paced house grooves that we have come to expect from this duo’s musical musings, the EP as a whole offers firm reassurance that this one house outfit that refuses to be grounded by modern convention. Once again standing on a platform of their own where creation over convention is concerned, Something Good pen one of the most accomplished EPs of the summer.
