Skrillex to release new music ‘sooner rather than later,’ expects to premiere at Reading and Leeds Festivals

Sonny Moore’s solo moniker has been relatively silent recently. Since Bangarang‘s late 2011 release, Skrillex has tided us over with Leaving (an abridged EP to advance The Nest), new Dog Blood material, and promotional themes for G-Star Raw and Mishka. Hopefuls turned to his first studio Essential Mix, but were still left hankering for unheard originals. After Sonny’s interview with Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 last night, it seems the wait will soon be over.

The Grammy-sweeper will headline the Reading and Leeds Festivals August 24th and 25th. Moore speaks on the upcoming performance; “This is the first time I’ve played a proper Skrillex show at a festival all year, actually. So I’m exited to play some new music and we have new visuals and stuff that we’re working with.”

When asked about releasing this new music, Skrillex tells Zane, “For sure – sooner rather than later, I’d say sooner.” Sonny has produced an album’s worth of new material, but is still debating what format to release it and between how many releases. “I have a lot of music right now, I have more songs than an album… will it be two releases or will it be one release? I don’t know. If it feels like an album, it’s an album, if it doesn’t then it’s gonna be a 10-minute mega song.”
