Blinders takes on Axwell’s ‘Center of the Universe’
Remixing a Beatport #1 can be a tricky business: Why mess with purchase-certified perfection? Luckily for the dance world, Poland’s Blinders took a risk and did just that, taking Axwell’s “Center of the Universe” from big to massive. The latest Axtone release maintains the heft of Magnus Carlsson’s vocals but pumps up the progressive sound. No stranger to amplifying anthems, the young producer trimmed down the piano and cranked up the synth, sending heart rates spinning in the process. Though Mateusz Owsiak may not yet be a household name, the now one-man Blinders show is showing that from Dirty South to DVBBS, Alesso to Axwell, he’s got the remix thing down – perhaps the dance community can now better appreciate his originals.
