Crookers & Will Sparks pen remix duties for TJR’s ‘Ode To Oi’
Among the the infectious back catalogue of Chris Lake’s Rising Music imprint, few have come close to emulating the consistent streak of North American trailblazer TJR. Past the heat of Beatport chart-topper “What’s Up Suckaz” and a 120-bpm reimagining of Drake’s recent album assets, Crookers and Will Sparks revisit 2012’s “Ode To Oi” to further its extensive shelf life amid the labels shinning roster. Crooker’s scatty lead emphasis fits the bill with seamless and welcomingly ungroomed style, leaving Will Sparks to thicken the plot with a fuzzy yet mechanically tuned electro rendition of TJR’s infectious original. The West Coast bounce may not have needed much in the way of fine tuning, but between the seams of this European / Australian intervention lies a welcome reawakening of one of the earlier warning signs of TJR’s industrious rise.
