WHAT!? Deadmau5 in the headlines!? What now!? Oh, it’s a song release – thank goodness. While we take a break from any trollmau5 controversy, it’s always nice to bask in the amount of ear candy Joel has delivered in 2013. After continually teasing his fan base by binge-posting chains of studio progress on his SoundCloud, one free download in particular had grabbed attention earlier this summer. “Suckfest9001” embodies Deadmau5’s iconic sound, with head-bobbing rhythmic distortion and beautifully embellished melodic breaks. The public’s reaction was in favor of the consistent “mau5” sound and a release was in order. “Suckfest9001” is available by itself and on Mau5trap’s “We Are Friends” Vol. 2 compilation series. After a shaky breakup with Ultra Records earlier this year, the Mau5 has partnered with Astralwerks, who have reached an understanding with Joel’s goals in mind. When the Mau5 is happy, we’re all happy… or at least not cringing at his next tweet.
