Although best known for their more melodious and dreamy trance style, German duo Cosmic Gate’s remix of Armin’s “Pulsar” takes a different direction. The intro contains full-bodied, progressive trance synths along the lines of what fans would expect from W&W. Its high-powered buildup creates expectations for an even heavier drop, until listeners are pleasantly surprised with a more subtle, bass-filled drop. This is very unlike what we’ve heard from Cosmic Gate in the past. About halfway through the track, the melody dies down into absolute silence, and once again builds back up. The second time around, Nic and Bossi provide listeners with the heavy kicks and stabbing percussive synths which they had patiently awaited.
