Australian duo New World Sound and Dutch newcomer Thomas Newson unite this month with debut collaborative stint “Flute” for Doorn Recordings. Initially previewed as an anonymous 50-second ID and rumored to be a collaboration between W&W Blasterjaxx, the union of these new-age contenders forges something of a bohemian take on the big room sound that has pummelled the market throughout the year. Keeping with the heavy footed yet melodic guise that Sander Van Doorn’s beloved Spinnin offshoot has continued to encompass since its inception, “Flute” matches a striking melodic standpoint with coherent festival mechanics to the utmost effect. Forging a track somewhere between that of Martin Garrix’s “Animals” and early Steve Angello anthem “Gypsy,” this final quarter leap for camp Doorn is a powerful peak time contender by all accounts.
