Needless to say, Storm Queen and MK’s overhaul of the UK charts with “Look Right Through” was a big old landmark for Defected Records and the global house community alike. Bubbly BBC favorite Annie Mac was not immune to the #1, this week choosing GotSome’s recently aired remodel of the track as her befitting ‘New Music Monday’ installment. Off the heels of their phenomenal Bassline EP, the duo unveils their Animal Style VIP remix to assert that their first Defected offering as a duo was no fluke. Tight grooves and sluggish leads work in well-orchestrated unison to give the chart-friendly remix an otherwise ungroomed edge, one that is sure to be welcome in wake of the original’s commercial success. Storm Queen and Kinchen may have been the big news this week, but GotSome remains a quality nod to British house music that demands some serious attention for the year ahead.
