Watch This: Robert DeLong reflects on his big break and his career

Robert DeLong has exploded onto the scene from Washington state, releasing his EP Global Concepts last year and his debut LP Just Movement a few months ago. DeLong has no real genre — his music encompasses all styles, from dubstep elements to indie rock overtones. His stage show summarizes his eclectic style nicely, with live vocals, full drum sets, and traditonal DJ rig all in one setup.

In a recent video, Robert chronicles his current life, his style, and his breakthrough. Citing Los Angeles warehouse shows, DeLong explains how these wild parties first got him noticed. “My turning point was a warehouse show that we threw in LA, and we ended up packing the place out. It was a huge success. It was from there, that every opportunity that I had came from. We filmed it, and that video circulated between a bunch of different people. Because of that, I got a management deal, and because of that, I got some residencies. And then through those residencies, I got signed to Glassnote.”

He further cites his style as “just making music,” regardless of what sound or genre it is. A true musical genius, Robert DeLong is one act you can’t miss.
