Calvin Harris and Alesso top the UK charts with Hurts collaboration 'Under Control'

Calvin Harris and Alesso have topped the UK charts upon entry to December with collaborative offering “Under Control” for Sony Music. Having steadily ascended both the UK and iTunes charts throughout the final moments of November, the duo’s collaboration with Manchester indie pop outfit Hurts entered at number one, beating British pop singer Gary Barlow to the top stop along the way.  While Harris first saw chart-topping success with 2009’s “I’m Not Alone’ and subsequently returned with tracks “We Found Love” and “Sweet Nothing” in 2011 and 2012 respectively, the track gives Refune Records protégé Alesso his highest chart position since 2012’s “Calling (Lose My Mind).” In the same year that put MK’s “Look Right Through” and Martin Garrix’s “Animals” alike in pole position, “Under Control” is yet another awakening landmark to the universal acceptance that has now become commonplace for dance music and the fuller extent of its mainstream crossover appeal.
