Dixon and Tale of Us top Resident Advisor's Top DJs of 2013 poll
In a time when the credibility of DJ Mag’s Top 100 continues to come into question, Resident Advisor’s annual poll is more relevant than ever. While the former has traditionally served as a decent gage of popularity among EDM artists, rampant accusations of voting fraud and invasive marketing techniques have riddled the integrity of the poll. On the other hand, Resident Advisor’s annual list has continued to uphold the values of the underground. With a similar approach to DJ Mag’s list, Resident Advisor allows fans to choose their top DJs of the year. This year’s results are in, bearing a striking resemblance to last year’s top honors.
Topping this year’s Resident Advisor poll is Dixon. The eclectic German artist is responsible for some of the most mind-bending DJ sets around, not to mention helping run forward-thinking record label Innervisions. The second spot has been nabbed by Italian duo Tale of Us, with the mighty Richie Hawtin following close behind. Ben Klock and Seth Troxler round out the top five, with Maceo Plex, Richard Villalobos, Loco Dice, Jamie Jones, and Ben UFO capping off the top ten.
With last year’s poll being similarly dominated by the talented hands of Seth Troxler, Richie Hawtin, Dixon, and Maceo Plex, it’s safe to say that not much has changed. The tyrants of techno and house have not relented; the underground worships the same idols, and for good reason. These four artists have consistently proven time and time again to be the crème de la crème when it comes to the deeper realms of dance music.
