Though it has been several seasons since Rudimental released their UK #1 album Home, Cash Cash and Gazzo have thrust the sixth single “Free” back into the spotlight. While the original was not as successful on the charts as its predecessors, the tune has struck a chord within the dance community, garnering remixes from the likes of Nas, Maya Jane Coles and Jack Beats. Now given another go around by the two Jersey outfits, the emotive indie rock-based ballad is transformed into a happy slice of progressive electronica grounded by Emile Sande’s liberated lyrics. Slated for release on Big Beat, the remix inserts some bounce punctuated by the trio’s signature chirping synths, turning the soulful song into something a little snappier.
