Sluggers release fabulous Phantom Fade EP

Sluggers, the next big project from OWSLA records, has been shrouded in mystery for some time. Information about them is sparse, despite their active SoundCloud and support from major artists like the label owner himself Skrillex, Boys Noize, Brodinski, and more. They released the Phantom Fade EP just in time for the new year, a collection of deep pounding bass with minimalist but strategically placed vocal splices and hi-hats. Spanning four tracks in total, the haunting music is one of the best EP’s that we have heard this year.

The standout track is ‘Broke,’ a grungy synthesis of wonky accents with techno beats and a driving bass line that even the best of OWSLA can be proud of. Driving to a frenetic climax, the track releases the tension with dreamy synths, before rebooting the manic build in a whole new fashion. Not a boring second is wasted on this EP, and we cannot wait to hear what is next from this mysterious group.
