DA’s Sunday Morning Medicine: Volume 49

Sunday Morning Medicine is a feature from Dancing Astronaut dedicated to the mellower side of electronic music. We bring you our favorite therapeutic selections — old and new — in an attempt to alleviate the agonizing effects of a long weekend of partying.

This week’s edition of Sunday Morning Medicine focuses heavily on chill trap, with a deep house cover of Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” and Motorcycle’s “As The Rush Comes.” Because trap is generally associated with high energy, this week’s SMM seeks to show readers the more elegant and melodic side of the genre that is often overlooked.

1. Gnarls Barkley – Crazy (TEEMID & Joie Tan Cover)

Perhaps even better than the original, the TEEMID and Joie Tan cover gives Gnarls Barkley’s 2006 hit deep basslines and a modernized feel.

2. Hippie Sabotage- Stay High (Tove Lo Flip)

Tove Lo’s remix of “Stay High” is all sorts of eargasmic. From the car to the bedroom, this is the perfect chill trap listening tune.

3. AlunaGeorge- You Know You Like It (DJ Snake Remix)

One of DA’s Artists to Watch 2014, DJ Snake has proven himself to be a quality producer with upbeat tracks like “Turn Down For What” and “Bird Machine.” William Grigahcine’s remix of “You Know You Like It” displays his ability to channel trap’s energy into more downtempo productions.

4. Phaeleh feat. Soundmouse- Afterglow

A melodic track that invigorates the senses, Phaeleh and Soundmouse deliver the chillest trap you’ve heard in a while. This lullaby may actually put you back to sleep.

5. Motorcycle feat. JES – As The Rush Comes

Somehow, this track is still a favorite even after its release ten years ago. JES’ soothing yet mesmerizing vocals draw listeners into the progressive trance medley.
