Martin Garrix’s ‘Animals’ becomes highest charting instrumental hit since 1996

Martin Garrix’s unescapable breakthrough hit “Animals” continues to set records for the young producer. As of writing, “Animals” has climbed to the #32 spot on Top 40 radio, besting Darude’s 2001 hit “Sandstorm.” This news comes following Garrix becoming the youngest artist to ever hit Beatport #1 on a solo production, as well as peaking at#1 in the UK back in November. The highest charting purely instrumental track since Robert Miles’ track “Children,” Garrix’s gold-selling mega-hit is destined to continue its ascent up the Top 40 charts.

Ironically enough, Martin was born in the same year that “Children” took the #17 spot — 1996.

With recent backing by Scooter Braun, Garrix is riding the wave of “Animals” success with his follow-up “Wizard” and an upcoming North American tour. His career already in full bloom, the prodigy is already looking to the future, setting his sights on making even bigger waves in 2014.
