New World Punx look to defy boundaries of trance, release music video for ‘Romper’

When Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten announced their future as a collaborative project, trance fans rejoiced and anxiously awaited tunes to come from the new duo. However, when New World Punx released “Romper” as their debut single, their expectant audience was thrown off guard by the fiercely vigorous and dynamic energy of hard trance roots. “It is still trance but it’s aggressive,” Corsten explained to Billboard. “It’s driving and energetic.” Despite the aftershock of their introductory tune, Schulz and Corsten completed a booming tour and have released their official music video for “Romper” as a recap of their sold out stop at Los Angeles’ Palladium.

Alongside the release, the duo have attempted to clear the air and provide a sense of the direction for their latest enterprise together. Schulz alludes, “We have our loyal trance fans and we’ll never abandon them … But at the same time it’s like, we’re out to prove that trance doesn’t have to be rainbows and unicorns. It can be fun and not just so serious.” If you’re still unconvinced, watch the two and a half minute revisit of their electrifying performance at the Palladium – jam-packed with an on-screen proposal and an auditorium teeming with fans from front to back.
