Canadian breakout Richie G made serious headway for the next generation of techno advocates with his three-track debut for Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD imprint in 2013. Now, the fast-rising talent outs his hand to the handiwork of Hot Since 82 and Joe T Vannelli, bringing a new edge to the otherwise impenetrable force of this outright highlight of the ‘Little Black Book’ installment. Richie has already proven one of the guys capable of making quality techno accessible without skimping on the subtle magic that has kept the genre moving forwards for decades. His remix for “The End” pulls all the stops: melodic flares, ambient sample work, tempered textures and of course, those deep and insatiable grooves never far from a cut with the Canadian talent’s name on it. It’s easy to get skeptical about a genre with more buzz surrounding it than affirmative talent, but if this stunning Moda debut is anything to go by, Richie G will be collecting some serious disciples to the cause moving forward in 2014.
